Here is what happens when you stay up until 2am. You hear breaking news and have no one to talk about it with! So I write…..

How ironic! I just watched one of his comedy specials a few weeks ago and I remember thinking he’s in his 70s and still talking trash. What a great way to be remembered. He didn’t apologize for anything. Hopefully, he left with no regrets.

According to MSNBC

LOS ANGELES - Comedian George Carlin, a counter-culture hero famed for his routines about drugs and dirty words, died of heart failure at a Los Angeles-area hospital on Sunday, a spokesman said. He was 71.

RIP George

According to a news report I heard, exactly one year ago today gas was $2.94 and we cursed the thought of it hitting the three dollar mark. As of today the national average is $4.03. Remember when it took twenty years to go from about $1.25 to $2.00? With this new rate of increase we’ll see the ten dollar mark in our lifetime.

Some things were always too good to be true. Reminds me of that penny candy! Kids today do not know what pennies are.

CHILD BOO

If you’re asking yourself what a Trekkie is then obviously you 1) Aren’t One and 2) Havn’t seen the movie Boomerang! A trekkie is a person who loved the series Star Trek. Star Trek was such an original series (in that time) and most of America watched it even if it were our one guilty pleasure.

There I was browsing around tonight and I find this crazy headline, “GAY STAR TREK STAR TO MARRY PARTNER“. Sulu whose real name is George Takai has applied and received a marriage liscense in California to wed his partner of 21 years. Now I had to ask myself, why didn’t this headline simply say, “Star Trek Star To Marry”? I don’t remember the headline, “HETEROSEXUAL STAR KATIE HOLMES IS MARRYING QUESTIONABLE TOM CRUISE!”

If we’re going to continue to label people why not lable EVERYONE!

Congrats Mr. Sulu

Sulu is getting married!

Meet - The “Parents”

Parenting is a great responsibility. Most of us discipline our children the way we see fit. Personally, I’ve always thought “why should the law tell me how to discipline my child?” Then I read something awful that reminds me that some of us cross that line between lessons learned and severe punishment. In this case, the lesson was death!

A 13-year-old died Thursday after he was twice tied to a tree overnight for disobeying his parents.

May he rest in peace!

What a great yet sad holiday for the black community. Many of us weren’t lucky enough to know the joys of having a father. I was one of the lucky ones to have a father who guided my life as a child and continues to show me guidance as an adult but what about those less fortunate?

According to CHRISTOPHER WILLS, Associated Press Writer

CHICAGO - Barack Obama celebrated Father’s Day by calling on black fathers, who he said are “missing from too many lives and too many homes,” to become active in raising their children.

Obama and Family

They have abandoned their responsibilities, acting like boys instead of men. And the foundations of our families are weaker because of it,” the Democratic presidential candidate said Sunday at a largely black church in his hometown reminding the congregation of his firsthand experience growing up without a father, Obama said he was lucky to have loving grandparents who helped his mother. He got support, second chances and scholarships that helped him get an education. Obama’s father left when he was 2.

“A lot of children don’t get those chances. There is no margin for error in their lives,” said Obama, an Illinois senator. “I resolved many years ago that it was my obligation to break the cycle — that if I could be anything in life, I would be a good father to my girls,” added Obama, whose daughters, Sasha and Malia, and his wife, Michelle, watched from the audience.

So there you have it! He’s NOT GUILTY according to the jurors comprised of Robert Kelly’s peers. One has to wonder how innocent he really is. I wholeheartedly want to believe the verdict but I honestly don’t think he was found innocent he just wasn’t found “guilty enough”. Either way he’s innocent according to the law!

Why don’t we hear more about all the many great African American families who are true examples of the way families should be?

There are some great examples like Will and Jada Smith. Yes, we hear about Will’s new big screen movies and for a quick moment someone mentions his marriage but it’s never for more than a minute.

But let Will Smith be caught cheating on Jada we’ll here about it for the next ten months!

With all these young black men (R. Kelly, T.I., Tampa Tony, Michael Vick, Michael Jackson, 50Cent and many more) on the BAD SIDE OF THE ROAD it’s great to hear about the brighter side!

One of the first lessons you’re taught as a kid is to be a good sport and the essence of bowing out gracefully. Wonder where Hillary was when that lesson was being taught?

Maybe she was over at Bill’s house on a play date? Whatever the case, she sure took a long enough time to bow out of the Democratic race. Of course the other lesson we are taught as kids is to never give up.

But damn!

Okay so remember the blog CHINESE RIBS?

Well,  here’s the proof! I knew they were over there cooking dogs in China. I guess we are very judgemental in the USA since we eat cows and some religions value cows like we value dogs. However, I never saw anyone take a cow for a walk or on a family vacation!
